The Brief

Zinc Bokarina Beach is a premier residential and holiday destination that epitomizes the modern Sunshine Coast lifestyle. Complete Design Fabrication was engaged to provide an extensive architectural package including balustrades, fencing, and specialized screening. The objective was to provide a high-end, low-maintenance finish that could withstand the harsh beachfront environment while enhancing the building’s striking geometric design.

Special Considerations

Given the project’s direct ocean frontage, material selection and coating quality were paramount to prevent corrosion. The scope required a seamless integration of clear glass to maintain panoramic ocean views and custom-angled aluminium louvres to provide privacy and solar shading for residents. Precision in the core-drilling and fixing methods was essential to meet the structural demands of a multi-story coastal build.

The Solution & Materials Used

Our Warana workshop custom-manufactured a wide variety of aluminium and glass systems for the precinct:

Semi-Frameless Glass Balustrading: Utilizing 10mm heat-soaked toughened safety glass, supported by core-drilled aluminium glazing posts and finished with a custom 70x30mm RHS top rail.
Aluminium Balustrading: A robust yet sleek system featuring 50mm CHS core-drilled posts with 60mm CHS top and mid-rails.
Architectural Screening & Louvres:
- Perforated Screens: Custom-fabricated sliding and fixed panels featuring 3mm perforated aluminium sheets with a specialized “Morse” pattern on 50mm SHS frames.
- Vertical Batten Screening: 25mm SHS vertical battens fixed on edge at 40mm spacings, providing high-level privacy for balconies.
- Ventilation Louvres: Fixed Z-shaped ventilation louvres integrated into PFC frames for plant and utility areas.
Safety Handrailing: Wall-mounted 50mm round tube aluminium grabrails with mandrel-bent ends for ergonomic, compliant transition safety.
Pool & Perimeter Fencing: Fully compliant frameless glass pool fencing grout-set into the substrate, alongside powder-coated aluminium perimeter fencing for secure boundary control.

The Result

The Zinc project showcases our expertise in delivering high-volume, premium architectural metalwork. By managing the fabrication and powder coating in-house, we ensured that every component met the strict coastal durability requirements. The finished installation provides Zinc residents with a secure, stylish, and long-lasting coastal sanctuary.
