Do your balustrades meet Australian Safety Standards?
Absolutely. All our installations are engineered to comply with AS 1288 and AS 1170, ensuring they meet the required load-bearing and safety heights for residential and commercial properties.
How do I get a quote for my project?
Getting a quote is simple. You can fill out our online contact form, email your architectural plans to our office, or call us on 07 5437 6599.
Is glass a safe material for balustrades?
Yes, it is exceptionally safe. We use toughened safety glass, which is specifically manufactured to be high-impact resistant. In the unlikely event that it does break, it shatters into small, blunt granules rather than sharp shards, significantly reducing the risk of injury.
What does Complete Design Fabrication specialise in?
We design and manufacture a wide array of architectural products, including:
- Aluminium & Stainless Steel: Balustrades, gates, pool fencing, and louvres.
- Specialty Structures: Spiral staircases and bespoke architectural metalwork.
- Glass Solutions: Professional supply and installation of glass balustrades and screens.
Whether it’s custom-fabricated metal or elegant glass, we provide end-to-end service for residential and commercial projects.
What is a “Non-Climbable Zone” (NCZ)?
An NCZ is a 900mm clear zone on the outside of the pool fence. This area must be free of any objects that a child could use to climb over the barrier, such as tree branches, garden furniture, pots, or taps.
What is the difference between aluminium and stainless-steel balustrades?
Aluminium is lightweight, highly resistant to corrosion (perfect for coastal areas), and can be powder-coated in a huge range of colours to match your home. Stainless Steel offers a premium, high-shine or brushed metallic finish and is exceptionally strong, often used for a more industrial or high-end architectural look.
What is the difference between fixed and operable louvres?
Fixed Louvres: The blades are set at a permanent angle. This is a cost-effective solution for permanent privacy or sun shading.
Operable Louvres: These allow you to manually or electronically adjust the angle of the blades, giving you total control over light, wind, and privacy levels throughout the day.
What is the difference between frameless and semi-frameless balustrades?
- Frameless: The glass panels are supported by discrete stainless steel "spigots" at the base, creating a completely unobstructed view with no vertical posts.
- Semi-Frameless: The glass is held in place by slimline aluminium or stainless-steel posts between each panel. This offers a more defined architectural look and is often a more budget-friendly option.
What is the minimum height for a legal pool fence?
Under Australian Standard AS 1926.1, the minimum height for a pool safety barrier must be 1200mm from the finished ground level. Additionally, the gap at the bottom of the fence must not exceed 100mm.
Why choose Complete Design Fabrication (CDF)?
Unlike many suppliers, we manage the entire process in-house. From our design centre and fabrication workshop to our specialized powder coating plant, we maintain total quality control. This vertical integration ensures superior craftsmanship, faster lead times, and competitive pricing.
