SOUTH EAST QUEENSLAND LOCKDOWN LIFTED – NEW RESTRICTIONS IN PLACE UNTIL 22 AUGUST, 4PM.
The Queensland government is ended its week-long snap lockdown at 4pm on Sunday 8 August for 11 local government areas in south-east Queensland.
The local government areas leaving lockdown are : Brisbane City; Moreton Bay; Gold Coast; Ipswich; Lockyer Valley; Logan City; Noosa Shire; Redland City; Scenic Rim; Somerset; Sunshine Coast.
For residents in impacted parts of South East Queensland, SCA (Qld) advises you to recommend committees reopen the common property that has previously been closed in line with the following restrictions until Sunday 22 August:
- Masks are mandatory in all settings outside of your home, except when eating or drinking or undertaking vigorous exercise, or in your private vehicle. You must carry a face mask with you at all times, unless you have a lawful reason not to.
- Private gatherings: 10 people maximum including residents, visitors and children. The body corporate must encourage physical distancing to the extent reasonably practical. Gathering is not defined as transiting common property.
- All indoor settings: 1 person per 4 square metres. Smaller venues (200 square metres) can operate with 1 person per 2 square metres up to 50 people
- Outdoor settings: 1 person per 2 square metres.
- You must be seated when eating or drinking and SCA (Qld) recommends to apply this to common property.
Rest of Queensland
For residents in all other parts of Queensland, bodies corporate can continue to operate under the following restrictions:
- Indoor restrictions: 1 person per 2 square metres
- Private gatherings: limited to a maximum of 100 people
If you have been in an impacted area recently, you must follow the restrictions of that area

BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY – WHAT WORK IS ABLE TO CONTINUE
The building and construction industry is not currently a restricted industry (refer to Schedule 3 of Restrictions for Locked Down Areas (South-East Queensland) Direction (No. 4).
Remembering the purpose of the lockdown is to stop the spread of the highly contagious COVID-19 Delta variant, it is important to take a practical, common-sense approach to what building and construction activity needs to continue now.
Work on unoccupied construction sites, both commercial and residential can continue.
Essential work, which means work (both new and in progress) required to make a building and/or property safe, accessible, secure and functional, may occur – in consultation with the owner. This includes occupant safety and accessibility, emergency repairs or essential services on occupied buildings.
Outdoor work in occupied residences may continue subject to the above points.
Otherwise, please consider whether the work can be postponed until after the current lockdown ends. This includes commencing or quoting a new job.

QUEENSLAND BORDER RESTRICTIONS
The Queensland government has extended border restrictions to all of NSW except for local government areas along the Queensland border.
Victoria and South Australia are also declared hotspot zones.
People who live in or have visited these areas are barred from entering the state, unless they are granted a special exemption.
If you are a Queensland resident returning from these areas, you will need to quarantine at a hotel for 14 days at your own expense.
If you are not a Queensland resident, and you have been to these areas, you need to apply for an exemption, and if that is granted, you will need to quarantine in a hotel for 14 days at your own expense.
Everyone needs to complete a travel declaration form up to three days prior to arrival to enter the state.
As of 9 August, no areas of the NT or of WA were declared Covid-19 hotspots by the Queensland government so travel is permitted, if a travel declaration form is signed.
NSW border zone residents can only cross into Queensland for a permitted purpose are also required to complete an entry pass.
